Made to Order Bikes (MTOBikes) is not just your average website about mountain biking.  Founded by Carl H. Martens, a 26 year-old resident of The Flats at West Village, MTOBikes is a new breed of website, built by mountain bikers for mountain bikers.  This new style of website is emerging after years of readers being exhausted with traditional blogs, advertising, and corporate marketing.  “When designing our website it was important for us not to be like every other website.   We wanted to create the feel of a local bike shop online.  Our site provides readers with reviews and tips  written by our staff and some of the most experienced riders in the industry.  This approach allows us to connect with our customers on a personal level, gain their trust, and help them make educated purchase decisions”  says Carl Martens, Executive Director of Made to Order Bikes.  “With this approach we’ve seen our readership and sales double in the last quarter .”

Over the past several years mountain biking has grown as a sport and the on-line community was lacking a website that provided information about trails and connections with industry insiders. “We created relationships with some of the most well known suppliers in the industry to offer our readers some of the best products,” said Carl Martens, Executive Director . The top priority for MTOBikes is to create an on-line community for mountain bike enthusiasts. “We don’t just listen to what other people say, we go out and experience what we cover first hand,” said Carl Martens, Executive Director . “We seek out professionals in the industry to provide us their own views and experiences from the trails they ride.  We are fortunate enough not to be tied to huge advertising dollars, so our reviews strive to be as objective and non-biased as possible.”

Made to Order Bikes specializes in customized mountain bikes and specialty parts.  Their on-line community engages readers with industry news, trail reviews, and an interactive community through which riders can post their own pictures and reviews of trails from around the world.
